COMBAT AND WEAPONS

Thaliondor is a Full Contact, sufficient force game. This means that hits are judged based on the force they hit with. Hits that are too light or that don't make significant contact are considered invalid hits, and deal no damage. Thaliondor functions on an honor based system, and it is up to the individual to decide if a melee attack hit was sufficient or not.

Basic Combat Rules

When a person takes damage, they will lose functionality of wherever they took the damage; getting hit in the arm means you can no longer use that arm, and you drop anything in that arm. If you get hit in the leg, you can no longer walk or run using that leg, and may either take a knee or hop on one leg.

Ranged users (magic users, archers, or fighters throwing javelins) call their own hits. That means, for example, when an archer shoots someone with an arrow, and the arrow hits, the archer will call the area they see the arrow hit. You may not argue with a ranged user, even if you do not agree with the call they made. If you believe someone to be making bad calls, please talk to a council member after the match has concluded so we can address the issue appropriately.

Types of Weapons

"Blue" Weapons – One handed melee weapons less than 48 inches in length; deal 1 point of damage. These consist of, but are not limited to: Swords, Maces, Hand Spears, Flails, Axes, Daggers, and Quarterstaffs (Even though Quarterstaffs can be over 48 inches in length, they count as Blue weapons, as they are two blue weapons combined.)

"Red" Weapons – Two handed melee weapons over 48 inches in length; deal 2 points of damage, go through Light Armor, and, if used to slash or smash, can break Shields. These consist of, but are not limited to: Greatswords, Greataxes, Long Spears, Glaives, Polearms, and Warhammers.

"Ranged" Weapons – Projectiles, such as arrows, chakrams, bolts, and javelins; deal 2 points of damage, and go through light armor. Magic is also considered ranged, however, they abide by different rules of effect or damage depending on the spell
